I went to the Seattle Design Center to check new material and stuff.

I need to keep updating my resource to present my design to client.

I found some interesting leather hide that I’d like to use on the project.

In addition, when I looked around many shops, my brain would be refreshing to receive an idea. Before I forget the idea, I sketched it, otherwise it never comes back.

I’ve got useful resource and many brochures.

シアトル・デザインセンターにファブリックや家具の調査に行ってきた。

デザインセンターは様々なメーカーが一つのビルに集まっているデザイナーにとっては便利な場所です。一般公開はされていないので、デザイナーと一緒でないと入れません。

パッチレザーやスタッドを使ったキャビネットなど、良いリサーチが出来ました。

デザインセンターで色々な所を見ながら、浮かんだアイデアを忘れる前にスケッチをします。写真も撮りますが、「ナニ」を撮ったのかも思い出せないからです。

良いリソースを得ました。沢山のカタログを持って帰れるか心配です・・

I had a chance to visit the grate boatbuilder, Delta Marine.

I could meet with the president of the yard thru my friend’s client.

He was very kind to show us the finished boat on the river in front of the yard and took a tour of design department, naval architect department and the largest, 66 meter, yacht ever build in US from drawing and model.

It was such a good experience to meet president and took a look at yard. I really appreciate for my friend arrangement.

シアトルのボーイング工場の側にある「Delta Marine」のオーナーと会ってきました。

友人のクライアントのアレンジによって実現しました。

Delta Marineは今までに様々の賞を取っているボートビルダーです。

敷地は広すぎて全てを見るには一日はかかってしまうでしょうね。

Delta Marineのオーナーのは親切なアテンドで、進水したボート(150フィート)を見せて頂きました。アメリカ造船史上、最大の「66m (217ft)」のボートを建造します。図面やモデルを見せてもらいました。

デザイン・デパートメントや設計デパートメントも素晴らしく、図面が整然と並んでいました。

非常に良い経験をさせてもらいましたし、人の温かい縁を感じます。

残念ながら造船所内の写真はNGなので、アップする事は出来ません・・

I visited boat designer, Mr. Brian Holland, at Salmon Bay office.

He took me to take a look at the one boat he designed.

It’s such a nice office new office.

We had great meeting to talk about China.

シアトルのサーモンベイにオフィスがあるFraser YachtのBrian Hollandさんとのミーティングです。

丁度、彼がデザインしたボートがあったので、見せてもらいました。

船造りは「情熱」だなーと、彼の楽しそうに話す姿を見て、改めて感じました

中国で建造中の話は、興味深かったです。

I took a ferry from Seattle to Bainbridge Island to meet great naval architect, Mr. Jack Sarin.

He showed me a lot of projects pictures he done and talked about each project’s story.

It was such a great experience to meet naval architect like him and how mega yacht project goes. I’ve learned not only custom mega yacht, but also production boat project.

I hope I could meet him when he comes to Asian region.

シアトルの対岸にあるべインブリッジ・アイランドへフェリーに乗って行ってきた。

アメリカのみならず、インターナショナルに有名な船舶設計士の「Jack Sarin」とのミィーティングです。

今までのメガヨット・プロジェクトの写真を見ながら話をし、各プロジェクトのバックグラウンド・ストーリーを聞かせてもらった。私もI padを使って説明です。

世界中で建造しているSarinさんのデザインしたボートの話は、非常に興味深く、プロジェクトの成り立ちも各国によって異なるので、勉強になりました。

近々アジアに来た時に、またお会いする約束をし、フェリー乗り場まで送ってもらいました。

I met Jon Pokela who is my mentor and used to be my boss.

We had dinner at Gig Harbor and talked about business and life.

He welcomed me to his house and had great blueberry pie his wife made.

It is good to meet Jon and I could see my future business no trap thru his experience.

私のメンターでもあり、ボスでもあった「Jon Pokela」に会ってきた。

ディナーを一緒にし、ビジネスの話や、Lifeの話を掘り下げて話した。

「いつアメリカに帰ってくるの？」とよく聞かれます。何とも答えづらいQuestionだが、言ってもらえるだけありがたいです。

ディナー後、彼の自宅へ。ゴルフ場に面しているレジデンスです。奥さんが作ってくれたブルーベリーパイにアイスクリームをのせて頂きました。

会えて良かったです。自分が以前と変わっているのを認識できたし、バックグラウンドを再認識出来ました。
